How to make Waffle Fries

Waffle fries are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed on their own or paired with a variety of toppings and dips. The best waffle fries are crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside, making them the perfect addition to any meal. Here’s how to make waffle fries at home really easily:

Ingredients:

4 large potatoes
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional: herbs, spices, or cheese for seasoning

Instructions:

1. Start by preparing your potatoes. Peel them and slice them into 1/4 inch thick slices. Then, slice each of those slices into 1/4 inch thick fries. Make sure all the fries are roughly the same size, so they cook evenly.

2. Next, rinse the fries in cold water to remove any excess starch. This will help them to become crispy when they are cooked. Drain the fries and pat them dry with a paper towel.

3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot over medium-high heat. You can use other oils like canola oil, sunflower oil or peanut oil as well. The oil should be heated to around 375°F (or 190°C).

4. Once the oil is hot, add only a small amount of fries to the oil. Be sure not to add too much at the time to the pot, as this will lower the temperature of the pot which leads to the not properly cooked fries. Fry the fries for about 3 to 5 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy.

5. Once the fries are cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to remove any excess oil.

6. Repeat the process until all of the fries are cooked.

7. After the fries are cooked and drained of excess oil, you can season them with salt, pepper, and any other herbs, spices or cheese of your choice.

8. Serve the waffle fries warm and enjoy!

Waffle fries are a great and delicious side dish, but you can also enjoy them as a snack with various dips like ketchup, mayo, cheese sauce, or even ranch dressing. You can also top them with cheese, bacon, or other toppings for a more substantial meal.

If you don’t have a deep fryer or a large pot, you can also make waffle fries in the oven. Preheat the oven to 425°F (or 245°C), spread the fries on a baking sheet and drizzle them with oil. You can also add any the seasoning you like, and then bake them for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
